Health Colon Cleanse

Two words that address one of the fastest ways to improve your health: colon cleanse!

Colon cleanses have been used since the beginning of time. Early civilizations grabbed a reed from the marshes and gently inserted it into a person’s rectum. Next, tobacco smoke was blown inside. This caused the colon’s peristaltic muscles to release the contents of the colon and just like that, the colon was cleaned. Back in those times, that’s what people did to improve their health: colon cleanse.

New Ways To Cleanse

Now we have progressed to the point where we know that there are other more “technologically advanced” ways to colon cleanse. For example, the reed/tobacco combination has been replaced with colonic hydrotherapy. This is where a speculum is inserted into the rectum attached to a hose to a colonic machine. Water can flow into the colon via a separate hose; waste flows out through the machine. You can watch what comes out through a viewing tube on the machine. The session lasts about 45 minutes to one hour.

Herbal Combinations are Powerful

Another way to get your health back by using a colon cleanse is to take herbal combination formulas that are specifically made to support the colon.

Know the Rules

Whichever you decide to do, there are some basic guidelines you should know:

  1. Eating fiber does not constitute a colon cleanse.
  2. Colonic hydrotherapy sessions must be continued for a period of time to be helpful enough to your health as a colon cleanse. Thinking that one session is enough is naive because it took you years to accumulate waste in the colon. One 1-hour session won’t be able to remove much more than air trapped inside along with a few old meals.
  3. Colonic hydrotherapy sessions should be done two to three times a week for the first week, and at least once a week for ten weeks after that. The timetable can vary depending on a person’s needs.
  4. Herbal capsules to support the colon and initiate a colon cleanse should include valuable colon herbs such as cascara sagrada, slippery elm, aloe, senna, or epazote as the primary colon flushing herb. However, these herbs can stimulate the nerves in the intestinal tract a little too fast and result in “griping”, spasms of the colon. Other herbs should be included in the formula to counteract this graiping.
  5. Soothing herbs to tone down the griping include herbs such as fennel and peppermint.
  6. Additional supportive herbs for the digestive tract may include some that act on the liver to release bile that may have been backing up such as dandelion or actual liver cleansing herbs such as milk thistle. The colon is connected to the liver in its function. Anything added to the formula to assist the liver may indirectly or directly affect the colon and bring about health through a colon cleanse.

The most important thing to know is that to improve your health, colon cleanses are essential. The more you can reduce waste in the body, the better you will feel. Your colon was not made to be a suitcase for wastes.
